PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE

Crusing' with your Caddies

First of all we wish to say Thank You Millions ---- Gerry T., for all the hard work, sometimes a not very rewarding effort, in putting our beautiful colored newsletter together for all to enjoy and the news. He is now turning his pen over to Bill L.. We wish to welcome our new editor aboard. I ask you to help him and send information to him.
Thanks to all for participating in the July 4th car show at the Anatole Hotel in Dallas for the National Federation of the Blind’s National Convention. We had a great time even though it was a bit warm and humid, but a little breeze & shade helped. NTXR had twelve cars there and about 1800 people showed up to view them. Jim B. and his 1917 Detroit Electric car with its 16 batteries drew lots of attention. Allantes of Neil J., Jeff H., and Ron F. made an excellent showing. Beers brought his Corvair-powered replica of a 1937 Cord. A plus was that we drew several members that have not been to, such as Scott Webster’s ‘73 Coupe Deville, and a British Jag of Richard C.. A very rewarding event.
The summer car show & cruise circuit is a prefect time to increase our membership! Each one of you have car shows or activities that you attend, so as you see Cadillacs at these outings, take the time to hand out membership info. Our brochure is very eye-appealing, so strike up a conversation and get them to join. If you need applications, call Bill H. or other board member to have some sent to you.
Now its on to the Grand National in Kansas City. We have about 10 members going, and some are showing their cars and hoping for an award. NTXR wishes them well. Please watch the Calendar (The one from this newsletter’s back page that you cut out for your refrigerator) to see the upcoming activities in the coming months. September 18th is Crusin' for the Prostate Cure. Highlight your calendar for "Regional"---October 10 at the Campbells in Red Oak. Then there is the State Fair October 16th, and our tour to DeLeon on November 13th, so we have a busy calendar. We also need lots of volunteers for the National Driving Tour to Palo Durain in 2011. You will love and enjoy this drive as there are 3 private collections to see besides the Panhandle Historical Museum, "Texas" the amphitheater in the Canyon, a Cowboy Breakfast on rim, a trip down Rt 66 -- and -6th street to browse.
Also remember we need some members to step up to the plate and volunteer for a board job. Johnnie B. is stepping down as Pate Director, We need a secretary. And for any office that you would like to fill as director, learn the ropes and be mentored by a board member so you can take over a position. Tony Y. is Nominations Chairman. We can use your input on your ideas and wants and dislikes so they can be implemented. Love & Hugs, Rubye Musser
