PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE
Crusing' with your Caddies
Prez Rubye Musser had some surprises for us at the Christmas Party! The first surprise was the display of three magnificent Cadillacs in the Marriott Ballroom: Ron and Joellen Blisset brought their wonderful 1914 Cadillac to the party all the way from Oklahoma, Arlyn and Lora Jane Campbell brought “Dexter” their lovely ‘41 Sixty Special, and Dara and Jim Warren arrived in the ballroom in their magnificent “Miss Daisy” ‘49 Model 62 sedan. The second big surprise Rubye had for us was the unexpected visit by Pavarotti in the guise of Jorge D’Soria and his lovely wife, Jewel. Jewel is Jorge’s piano accompanist. Actually Jorge is an outstanding singer as well as an accomplished impersonator of famous people such as Columbo (Peter Falk) and Pavarotti. Even the “rednecks” among us enjoyed the entertainment. The couple often give concerts at retirement homes and other places. Jorge is also a very accomplished artist, and some of his art was recently featured in the Fort Worth Star Telegram. Their e-mail address is desoria@aol.com.
But there was even more great entertainment! Our resident movie maker and Membership Chairman, Bill Haesslein, once again produced a terrific slide show for us. Thanks Bill!
Now we begin a new year and the first meeting is in Dallas at the Flight Museum at Love Field. We will have a person telling us about the museum and its history. We will be assured of being warm for this meeting and a chance to visit with friends and see cars and some airplanes. We might even find a hamburger spot close by. So come on out near Love Field to the Flight Museum.
This is the beginning of your points for the participation award, and speaking of the awards: Participation Award ----- Bill Haesslein won the award for the oil change donated by Frank Kent Cadillac. The Nola Kennig Award given by Mark Kenning was won by Joyce Randoll. Wallace Wade Tires Service Award ------was won by Dennis Riordan, Membership Award ---- presented by John Foust and Bill Haesslein was awarded to Bill Shipp for obtaining the most members during the year. Bill Shipp was unable to attend. The big neon clock was donated by John Foust Cadillac Parts to the club at the beginning of 2009 as a challenge to stir an interest in getting members to join. Congratulations to All and those that won a door prize.
The Pate Gifts were also distributed by Johnnie Bills and Tony Yates, A tote purse depicting Route 66 for the ladies and a Cadillac emblem license plate for the men.
Remember to sign up to work at Pate this year to win a prize for working on Pate days, April 24 setup and Take Down May 2. Be sure to call Johnnie Bills to sign up and to help with the work days.
We bid farewell to Bill Ische as our long standing treasurer (editor’s note: what a relief that the new treasurer does not live on Crooked Tree Ct.). The books were then handed over to Neil Jefferson, our new Treasurer. Bill Ische received a money clip and a pink 1959 model Cadillac as a small token for his time spent with us on the Board .Thank You a bushel and a peck, Bill.
Again, thanks to the 2009 Board and we look forward to a wonderful 2010. We are working on completion of the calendar for the year. We, as a Board, look forward to 2010 and with the help of each member to make this the best yet year for all of us. But we do need your help especially for Pate and the Newsletter. Also we will be going down Memory Lane this year with some of the history of our Region as well as a look back at Pate and the beginnings of Pate and our Club.
Special thanks to Mark McCay for taking all the pictures in this issue.
Thanks for the memories...Love and Hugs… Rubye Musser
